What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a natural healthcare system used worldwide for over 200 years. The World Health Organization recognizes it
as the second-largest therapeutic system in use in the world. More than thirty million people in Europe widely practiced in India and South America and benefit from its practice. According to the National Institute of Health, more than 6 million people in the United States use homeopathy to treat specific health conditions.
Scientific Medicine began about 500 years before Christ. At this time, Hippocrates, who lived from 480 to 370 A.C., developed Medicine as an independent discipline, separating it from religious practices and superstitions. Hippocrates’ thoughts and knowledge are valid until today and were predominant in the creation of Homeopathy.
The state of health results from a continuous reaction of the body to maintain the vital equalizer. Human beings are subject to stimuli of all kinds, internal and external, which can disrupt the essential balance that
characterizes health and quality of life. According to Hippocrates, this balance is supported by an internal mechanism of adaptation and defense, an internal natural force, which he called “Vis medicatrix naturae,” which means the Healing Force of Nature. Samuel Hahnemann (considered the father of homeopathy, 1755 to 1843) replaced the term “Vis Medicametrix
Naturae” by Hippocrates by Vital Force.
When an imbalance occurs in one or more parts, this Healing Force of Nature will automatically seek to restore balance, keeping the individual healthy. This imbalance may affect the other parts to a greater or lesser extent, bringing disturbances to the body’s functions and uncomfortable sensations, which the symptoms will manifest and perceive. In the allopathic view, the symptoms are characterized and cataloged, forming the diseases and those treated.
In the opinion of homeopathy, the symptoms are not the main problem but a warning that something is out of the ordinary. It shows that the organism reacted to adapt or defend itself against aggression (internal
or external). Homeopathy seeks to understand what happened, mainly how it happened and what caused it. And with that, understand what the body is doing through the Healing Force. Thus the symptom can be
compared to a fire alarm. It’s a wake-up call. It is what draws our attention the most. Just turning off the alarm (eliminating the symptoms) does not solve it.
In humans, symptoms, in addition to being alert, represent what our body is doing to stay alive in the face of a threat. The body knows what it is doing, so the symptoms express how the body is acting to overcome the imbalance. When we use homeopathic Medicine, we work similarly to what the body is doing, “like, cures like,” “similia similibus curantur”, homeo = similar.
The application of correct homeopathic Medicine increases the body’s
ability to carry out this action and thus makes the healing faster and more effective.
By acting in a homeopathic way, we are working at the origin of the disease, at the root of the disorder, and not just on the facade, on the surface, that is, on the symptoms.
The homeopathic remedy is a preparation manufactured by homeopathy
pharmacies in their environment and with specific criteria, from
substances of mineral, vegetable, and animal origin (raw material) to be
used in homeopathic treatment. It can be used both in drops and in
globules.
Thus, to be transformed into medicines, the raw materials must undergo
successive DILUTIONS accompanied by vigorous agitation (succussion). This method is called DYNAMIZATION, which is a specific, standardized, and regulated pharmaceutical technique.
In summary, it is through DYNAMIZATION = DILUTION + SUCUSSION that the energetic therapeutic power is released, which is dormant and latent in the gross matter. The homeopathic remedy acts on the body through energy, together with the vital Force, and not through a chemical reaction, such as industrialized and manipulated medications, the allopathic ones.
Homeopathic treatment works with your body’s healing powers to improve health and well-being. Thus, it is a treatment that acts from the inside out, different from the allopathic action that the Force of chemistry imposes from the outside in.
Patients are treated as individuals, not as a collection of disease labels. The body has a natural inclination for healing; the symptoms guide what the body and mind need to regain health. With the right Medicine, a person receives the exact kind of “energy” he needs to overcome an obstacle and continue on the path of wellness.
The doctor who works using homeopathy performs a consultation by asking many questions and detailing the information received, as this is how he will know the individuality of each human being and the way each body acts to maintain the balance of life. The consultation itself is a therapeutic process.
During your session, you will have the opportunity to share the details of
your life story that are important to you. Even those little details about your symptoms that may seem inessential can be keys to finding your remedy.
These questions and the patient’s physical examination are used to arrive at a diagnosis and choose the appropriate remedy for the patient.
Homeopathy treats ailments on all levels of your being, be it emotional,
mental, or physical, and finds the ‘like cure like’ combination for them.
Homeopathically prepared remedies, providing the minimum necessary
dose, are gentle, subtle, and powerful. They are not addictive, plus they are not tested on animals.
The homeopathic remedy is individual and specific for the moment it was used and may not work on other occasions and other people. The patient must observe himself and note any changes that occur in the body after starting to use the Medicine, reporting them in the next consultation. Contact your doctor whenever: a new symptom appears, in any case of worsening symptoms, to resolve your doubts and seek clarification.
